GPS Kit - Offline GPS Tracker App Reviews

Always great to find another use for my iPod touch. GPS Kit plus a Dual XGPS150 bluetooth receiver and I dont need a new GPS or phone.

Best app ever, i use for hunting, fishing, hiking, quading and even to find distances. I got 6 different gps apps on my phone and this one is by far the best out there!

Very disappointed in this app. Doesnt work as advertised.

This app is far from seamless and doesn’t deliver what I was expecting from an expensive “GPS tracker”. It looked good and has nice tutorials but simply is too complicated, especially when you are in the woods and want to get from A to B, just doesn’t do it.

Since the ios 7 update many months ago the map layers (specifically google) are low resolution and pixilated. This is the only mapping app Ive seen that does this and its due to the developers refusal to access Googles layers in the same way that every other app does and that google has recommended. They have been aware of this issue for months but have apparently had no desire to fix it.

Work in resource management, use this every day Takes a toll on battery life, keep your charger around Would love to see an option to search waypoints. When you have 2500+ points it is next to impossible to locate points without knowing where they are. Would also like to be able to select waypoints in map view ... Ie. Without making data set "visible" (large sets slow down program, frustrating to have to make it visible and re select in map view every time I wish to see waypoint data)

This app is in dire need of an update, i could have done a better job writing the code for it at 2am after taking NyQuil

This was a very good app. Used for trail mapping. The Google earth map is now very low resolution. Needs an update badly.

While in theory this app could have been awesome, even at the price tag that I bought it ($10). But it isnt! Because they never update or fix bugs. Whenever Apple updates the OS Its unusable for months and also they seem to have bugs unrelated to the OS updates that simply crash the whole app. I wouldnt care if the app was free or $1... But not for $10, Im sorry! Ive been able to use this app maybe 20% of the time when I needed it because of this. I can confidently state that Ive been ripped off and Im warning you against buying this piece of garbage. If you need to rely on a gps while in the woods I recommend you look for another app or buy a real device because if you take this with you will get lost, dehydrate, starve, die and get eat by wild animals, then maybe they will find your remains in 5 years, if you are lucky. My original review of this app many years ago was one star. It really did deserve the rating, and I almost asked for my money back. But now that I have a faster phone (iPhone 3G users this app is not for you) and now that the interface has been redesigned Im happy to give it four stars. This is the most comprehensive GPS app out there, and for $10 it will replace your Garmin or other similar device. Since you can use it in airplane mode with location services enabled, I use this app when Im on forestry roads and need to find my heading and coordinates so I can find myself on my comprehensive paper maps. If you are looking for an app that will be useful on a multiple day hiking trip, this is for you! If you want a nav app, or have an older iPhone, find something else. Im glad to have updated my review with a more positive one!! As long as the mapping quality is updated to retina compatible standards this will be the best GPS app for the iPhone

App keeps crashing while importing kml files. Save your $$ and use google earth.

5 stars because it is the best GPS navigation app that seems to exist for the iPhone/iPad. Ive used this app heavily for years and have been very impressed by the set of tools the app offers. However, please update the app to keep current with new IOSs. The app sometimes now crashes a few seconds after launching it - on my iPhone 5. My Dad just got the app for his iPhone 6 and it seems a bit more buggy on his phone. One request is for adding the ability to create notifications when getting within x distance of a waypoint/track, or from getting x distance away from a particular waypoint/track. That would be awesome! So this is all to say, thanks for the great app, but please keep updating it.

Best regards. 2010.10.17 キャッシュの取得方法は理解できましたが、前のバージョンよりも正直手間がかかって非常に面倒くさいです。100m刻みの山の等高線を取得する場合、今までならそのスケールの地図を表示させてスクロールさせていけば自動でキャッシュできたのが、今回はいちいちキャッシュ選択画面で碁盤上のマスを選択しなければいけないのと、さらに100mの等高線が表示されるスケールをキャッシュする場合、一番細かいマス目になるのでチマチマ範囲指定していかないといけないので、キャッシュ量も増えてしまい駄目駄目です。 キャシュ方法を前のバージョンの方式に戻してもらえれば以前と同じ★5にするのですが、日本語のコメントなんか読まないだろうから、やはり前のバージョンで使用していくことにして★1つにします。 2010.10.11 バージョンアップしたら今までキャッシュしていたデータが消えてしまいました。新たにgoogle　topoを取得しようとしたらTerrainという地図に変更になっていて、キャッシュの方法が良く分かりません。一応youtubeで動画の説明がされていますが、前のバージョンの方がシンプルで良かったです。という訳でダウングレードして暫らく様子を見ることにします。 2010.10.04 トレッキングの際に使っています。google topoに対応していて、等高線と地名が確認できるのが素晴らしいです。 更に地図のキャッシュが可能でオフラインでも使えるので、万が一遭難しても地図とコンパスに加えてこのアプリがあれば心強いです。
